ScienceDaily (Nov. 24, 2007) — Smoking and depression often go hand-in-hand for new mothers, according to a new study by Temple University researcher Dr. Robert Whitaker.

Survivor of mental illness (BP), too many hospitals/meds/ECT's, finally on correct meds, struck gold in finding my present pdoc. Couldn't have done it without the major support of my hubby of 28 years and family. Returned to the workforce (F/T) after 9 years; to land of the living, but with people to whom I must hide my illness from due to STIGMA. I struggle daily; it 'aint easy, but I know I am one of the lucky ones. Also, back to doing what I love best - WRITING - MY PASSION.
Virginia was a brilliant author, penning some 10 novels, numerous short fiction and non-fiction, as well as, autobiographies. However she was the victim of depression and drastic mood swings, later diagnosed as Bipolar Disorder. Relapse after relapse eventually led to her death in 1941. Virginia drowned herself by weighing her pockets with stones and walking into a river. Her body was not discovered until one month later.
