Just a few words……
Just to announce that this blog, “Living in Stigma” is officially closed effective December 31, 2007. There will be no new postings. I feel I have accomplished what I set out to do with this blog; this was to educate, provide newsworthy articles, share a little of the experiences with my own mental illness, and hopefully in some way prevent the mistakes that I made.
I wish to thank everyone who visited this blog, especially the regular visitors; you are all special. This blog will remain open to view or comment on any post. I will still visit this blog regularly and if you wish to contact me, you may leave a comment or via e-mail: cherished-thoughts@hotmail.com
I would really appreciate your likes or dislikes of “Living in Stigma”, and perhaps suggestions. Please comment at the end of this post.
Thanks for your support.

I can’t believe I discovered this blog today, the day you are announcing your last post. I have just started a new blog about my son with schizoaffective disorder. I will definitely be looking closely at your blogroll. Thanks for writing all you did.
Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind words. Good luck with your blog and my thoughts are with your son and his struggles with his disorder.
i wish you would continue your blog. i guess i’ll have to pick up where you left off since i just started a blog on mental illness. it’s less personal than yours i guess but who knows… check them out and give me any tips or advice if you’d like:

Thanks so much for your comment and just to let you know I sent you an e-mail tonite. You stated that your blog may not be as personal as mine, but just remember your blog is your blog - each of us has our own ideas and thoughts. Both of your blogs are beautifully set up and the graphics are very nice. Just be you - and you will be unique.
wow cherrished this blog has been a shining example of the power of blogging…
I’ve traveled along journey with mental health and stigma and i cant thank you enough for what you have done.
I will continue to point people i meet to this site who are struggling with the stigma. So few bloggers have valued their readers so diligently and responsibility.
Take care and peace.
Thank you so much Cafedog, for you were one of my greatest supporters. I will miss this blog, however, time to move on. For me, this blog did serve it’s purpose, with many others showing their support also; knowing all too well the impact of stigma. Nearing close to 20,000 hits in such a short amount of time, showed that people wanted information on any aspect of mental illness, whether it be depression, bipolar, eating disorders, alzheimers etc.
I still live with stigma every day, and will always with my illness, yet I have learned to live with it or toss in the cards and fold.
hi there - sorry to see you go! i might be interested in taking over the carnival for now - at least to organize it. let me know …
Isabella, thanks for so much for the comment. I’m really unsure at this point about who wants to take over the Carnival. One personal showed interest, then I never heard from them again. Will give it a bit more time and if I don’t hear, I will contact you by E-mail. A shame to let die as it is obviously popular.
Thanks again.
Thanks for everyone’s support - this blog is now showing 20,000 hits (started in May/07). It did well and shows there is a need for info on mental illness.
Take care & safe holidays.
Debbie
Wow! I loved this blog, and think you did a wonderful job, and if you have closure on this part of your life, congrats!
I really did look to this place and your blog as a stepping stone for mine, it took some of the trepidation out of posting (not that I’ve done that in a while mind you
)
I wish you luck as you continue on lifes journey.
Cheers,
v1c
Oh wow, it seems more and more of my favourites are having to stop blogging… it’s like saying goodbye to people who are leaving after graduating or something!
I shall miss you!
I’ll keep a link to your blog on mine. I hope you pop by sometimes. Email me if you like to, too!
Your blog has inspired me and helped me, especially one particular time I remember, when I was lower than I’d been in years….
Take care of yourself-
& good luck-

Will: Thank you so much for your comment and stopping by. As you see, I check in regularly to the blog and see that people still regularly view. That is a tremendous compliment and trust that it is providing info for them in their struggle.
